Scott is the owner of the Youtube channel Chillinkansai, which promotes hip and happening things of interest related to the area in Japan. Initially Scott came to me for a brand ID for his YouTube Channel and to raise subscription numbers.
I looked at Scotts’s channel and felt his work covered so many diverse areas, how could I brand the channel?, then it came to me, I decided to make Scott his own brand. As he wanted to portray a cool, young approach, I looked for inspiration from the graffiti artist Banksy from the UK, I choose a cool colour palette related to the word Chill, Japanese looking text, and a red circle element in the brand to represent the Japanese rising sun. I involved Scott in every step of the process.
We discussed several topics for marketing, and felt that to initially get the word out on a budget, stickers would be a first line of attack to go on snowboards and for the younger audience, then merchandise and even a branded snowboard and t-shirts at a later date that would present great photo opportunities.

Not only was Scott’s logo well received, the stickers proved to be in high demand, helping o spread the word for Scott’s YouTube site, with subscriber numbers growing daily. Scott has launched a line of merchandise and plans to produce a branded snowboard in the near future.
Scott learned so much from the logo experience, that he made a series of videos to helps other business people looking for branding advice, as seen in the header:
Scott said this of the experience working with me:
“Gary helped me with the branding for my YouTube channel, designing my logo and helping me to think about the possible applications and development possibilities. He was great to work with, knowledgeable, creative, and enthusiastic about the project. His work is absolutely top notch. The most difficult part of the process was trying to choose between the world class logos and design he provided for me.
If you get the chance to work with Gary, do not hesitate.”
